Emma Doyle Obituary

Emma Doyle, 90
Ingonish

It is with heavy hearts that we regret to announce the passing of a loved mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Emma Doyle.
Emma passed away peacefully at home, with her loving family around her on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at the age of 90.
Born in Ingonish she was the daughter of the late John Michael and Mary Ann (Young) Donovan. Mom was a member of St. Peter’s Parish, Ingonish.
Emma is survived by her children, Agnes (Koby), Von (Pierre), Jean, Cathy (Russell), Gloria (Andy), Delia (Jackie), Donnie and Alice.  Mom is also survived by her 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn are Mom’s siblings, Peggy, Mary, Louise, Selena, Claire, Tim, Tome, Finlay and Malcom.
Besides her parents Mom was predeceased by her husband Francis Doyle, her son Austin, and daughters, Euphemia and Dolores, sons-in-law, Kilburn Hawley, Truman MacDougall Hardy, Eddie Fraser and Pierre Blais, grandson Allan Robinson and great granddaughter Scarlett Blais- Donovan, along with eight siblings.
Mom was the backbone of the family. Always there to give guidance, lend a helping hand and advice if needed or to just offer an ear to listen. Mom wanted the best for everyone she loved, when family and friends came to visit.
Mom will be dearly missed, especially by Alice. Mom fought a great fight everyday to stay here for her.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ritter, Jenna and Dr. Buffet whom Mom loved dearly. We would also like thank all the Doctor’s, Nurses and Homecare Staff at Buchanan Memorial Hospital for their kindness, compassion and caring care for Mom.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral Mass to celebrate Mom’s life will be held Friday, April 9, 2021 at 11 am in St. Peter’s Church, Ingonish with Fr Alphonse Iwuji officiating. Covid guidelines will be followed with a limit of 100 people in the church.
Donations may be made to St. Peter’s Parish Graveyard fund, or to the North of Smokey Palliative Care Society. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com

A Psalm for the Dying

Edward Hays, Prayers for a Planetary Pilgrim, 2008

Relatives and friends, I am about to leave;
my last breath does not say “goodbye,”
for my love for you is truly timeless,
beyond the touch of boney death.
I leave myself not to the undertaker,
for decoration in his house of the dead,
but to your memory, with love.
I leave my thoughts, my laughter, my dreams
to you whom I have treasured
beyond gold and precious gems.
I leave my thoughts, my laughter, my dreams
to you whom I have treasured
beyond gold and precious gems.
I give you what no thief can steal,
the memories of our times together:
the tender, love-filled moments,
the successes we have shared,
the hard times that have brought us close together
and the roads we have walked side by side.
I also leave you the solemn promise
that after I am home in the bosom of God,
I will still be present,
whenever and wherever you call on me.
My energy will be drawn to you
by the magnet of our love.
Whenever you are in need, call me;
I will come to you,
with my arms full of wisdom and light
to open up your blocked paths,
to untangle your knots
and to be your avenue to God.
And all I take with me as I leave
is your love and the millions of memories
of all that we have shared.
So truly I enter my new life
as a millionaire.
Fear not nor grieve at my departure,
you whom I have loved so much,
for my roots and yours
are forever intertwined.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
How do you know Emma (Donovan) Doyle?
We are sorry for your loss.
Help others honor Emma's memory.
