With heavy hearts, the family of Enos Alexander Ash shares the news of his peaceful passing on March 17, 2026, at the age of 82, at Northside General Hospital. We extend our sincere thanks to the medical staff at Northside for the kindness and care they showed Enos during his time there.
Enos, affectionately known in jest as the “Mayor of Sydney Mines,” was loved by everyone who met him. Born with cerebral palsy, Enos never let it slow him down. He could often be seen making his daily walk from home to downtown Sydney Mines, stopping to chat with friends—usually at the local coffee shop—or dancing up a storm at any celebration.
Enos was a lifetime member of the Ham Radio Association of Cape Breton. Through this passion, he connected with people around the world, forming lasting friendships without ever having to leave his home.
He was predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Evelyn Ash; his sister, Moira Ash (Jobe); and his brothers, Kenneth Ash and Clarence Ash.
Enos is survived by many nieces, nephews, and special cousins whom he loved dearly. He shared a particularly close bond with his nieces Evelyn Ann Jobe, Juanita Bigger Jobe (Mike), and Wendy Jobe Hamilton (Daniel), as well as his cousin, Shirley Ann Snow.
In keeping with Enos’ wishes, cremation has taken place. A formal service will not be held; however, he will be remembered and celebrated in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
