It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Theresa Evelyn Thurbide, peacefully, on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at home with her family by her side.
Born in Alder Point, she was the daughter of the late Elias and Catherine (Devoe) LeBlanc. She was a member of St. Ann’s church in Alder Point.
She had a love for music. She loved playing guitar and singing with family and friends.
She is survived by her sons Carl (Carol Ann) Thurbide, and Elmer (Ruth Ann) Thurbide, daughters Sylvia (late Gordon), Marie (Peter) Donovan, and Brenda (Darryl) Finney. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Benjamin Thurbide, daughter Margaret, son George, sisters Beatrice, Grace, Bertha, Violet, Olive, Goldie, Ninette, and Shirley, brothers Bennie, Irvin, Lesley, Elmer and George, brother-in-law Gerald, son-in-law Gordon Power, and her friend Charles.
We would like to thank friends who dropped by to play music to help her through her tough journey. Thank you also to Drs. Ron McCormick and Michel McKeough, Palliative Care and the VON for their care and support. Special thanks to Fr. Jake for stopping by for a family prayer.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service for family and friends will take place on Friday, July 23, 2021, at 3 pm in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bras d’Or. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
