Freeman Theriault
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father and Papa, Freeman Theriault, on Sunday, December 31, 2023. Our wonderful dad passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Alder Point on August 28, 1940, Freeman was the son of the late Wilbert and Evelyn (LeBlanc) Theriault. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his beautiful wife Liz and three brothers, Wilfred, Leonard, and Phillip.
In his earlier years, Freeman worked on the lake boats before settling home to raise his family. He then found employment with both the pipe fitters (682) and labourers (1115) unions. Freeman enjoyed hunting and fishing and could be found each summer occupying site #1 at Marco Polo Campground in Cavendish. Freeman was a Jack of all trades and a master of most, readily available to help with his kids’ house projects. He was very proud of the family he built with his wife and was never happier than when all were gathered at their summer home at Rockyside.
Freeman is survived by two sons, Derek (Elaine) and Troy (Micki), daughter Lyn McInnis (Ron), and sisters Helene Devoe, Margaret Cantwell (Edgar), and Millie Erickson. He leaves behind his most cherished granddaughters, Paige, Marli, and Kelli. There is not a thing in the world he would not have done for them. He will be fondly remembered by Vicki, Ian, Drake and Dan, whom he loved.
Freeman was well-loved by all of us and will be missed forever. We would like to think that he is now doing the jive in heaven with the love of his life, Liz. The family would like to express thanks to the friends, family and health professionals who supported Freeman in his last days. Special thanks to his best pal Robert Hillman (Judy) who went above and beyond to brighten his spirits each and every day, and to Gary and Heather Williams for being amazing neighbours to our dad.
Visitation for Freeman will be held Saturday, January 6th, 2024, from 12 pm - 1:00 pm at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home in Sydney Mines. A private service for immediate family only, will follow as per family wishes. Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
