Georgina Mae Foss
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend on November 12th, 2024, in Sydney at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital at the age 81 years old.
Mom lived in Sydney Mines her entire life, growing up on Brookland Avenue, to later raising her first two children Johnny and Melvin on that same street in the 60s and 70s, and boy were they hard times, strong times, and good times. Mom raised her third child Randy on James Street next to the “Jungle”. She loved watching him play baseball. She never missed a game during the ten years he played. She loved walks on Lochman’s Beach and going on outings with the Salvation Army.
Mom is survived by Sons, Melbourne Foss, Randy Foss, daughter-in-law Nancy Foss. Her Grandchildren, Michael (Kim) Foss, Justin Foss and Amanda Foss, Three Great-grandchildren, Brianna Moore, Ceilidh Moore and Casey Moore, One great-great-grandchild, Fia White, Nephew David (Darlene) White, Niece Brenda Lee (Barry) White-Dobben and her lovely Cousin Mary Lee (Paddy) White.
Georgina was predeceased by her Mom Ida May Gates, son John Joseph Foss, sister and brother, Mary White and Harry Gates, and niece Carol White.
A special thank you to the staff at the Miners Memorial Manor for taking great care of Mom for all these years. Your compassion and care will always be remembered.
A special thank you to Manning Jobes for guiding us through the steps of this heart-breaking procedure of laying our mother in her final resting place.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of our loving mother Georgina Mae Foss will take place on Monday November 18th, 2024 at 11 am in Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
