Gerard Martin
Little Bras d’Or
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gerard Martin, age 69, of Little Bras d’Or, on Monday, March 21, at home.
Born in Antigonish on May 1, 1952, he was the son of the late Tommy and Theresa Martin. He resided in Bras d’Or most of his life, and was a member of St. Joseph Parish. He was employed as a painter most of his life, which he loved to do, and passed that passion of painting on to his son Joseph.
Gerard is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Ann Martin (McConville), his sons Joseph and Patrick (Carlotta), and his grandchildren Griffin, Jailyn and Brody. Also left to mourn are his sisters Glenda (Harry Gerrow), Ethel (Dean Rudderham), and Rita Martin, his brother Tommy (Cathy), Aunt Bette (Uncle Glenn Smith), Antigonish, step-aunts Rose (Vince MacLean), Ann (Bob Parsons), and Shirley Jessome, and sisters-in-law Mildred Martin and Mary McConville.
Besides his parents, Gerard was predeceased by his step-mother Mary Martin (Druggan), and his brother John Martin.
He will be sadly missed by his good friends Eric MacKinnon, Melvin LeBlanc and Tom MacKinnon. They were there for him any time he needed them.
In keeping with Gerard’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A celebration of his life will take place Friday, March 25, 2022, at 10:30 am in St. Anne’s Church, Alder Point. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
