Gordon MacLeod Obituary

Gordon MacLeod
Ingonish

It is with special memories and saddened hearts that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of M Gordon MacLeod, at home in Ingonish, on Friday, January 29, 2021, at the age of 71.
Gordon was such a presence in Ingonish, a talented and entertaining storyteller always ready to help someone, and loved by all.
He always got up early and took a drive, usually with Rhynie, around the community before coming back home to start his day.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, that’s just who he was.
He enjoyed spending time with lifelong friends, Jacques and Helene, playing cards and enjoying wonderful meals, also with special long-time friend, Andy Robinson.  He enjoyed the end of day get-togethers with Tommy and the work shop boys, all with a drink in their hands.
He attended Kings (KCS) for grades 7-12, and studied business at UNB.  He and his siblings owned Point Properties and earlier in his career he managed the Ingonish Motel and Ski Cape Smokey.  His real passion was fishing, gardening, hunting and just being outdoors.
He started his fishing career with Doug Jackson and later had his own license, first with Lloyd Snow, and after 45 years retired from his fishing career aboard the Mary Mac with Adam Sams.  It was then he became a serious gardener and supplied the family and friends with vegetables throughout the year.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Rhodena (Hardy), daughters Shauna, and Linda (Frank), and son David (Morgan).  He will be missed by his grandchildren Chris, Sarah and Ben, with each of whom he shared an individual and special relationship.  He will also be missed by his Caper, his furry friend.
He is also survived by his brother Allister, sister Jean (Les), sisters-in-law, Gloria, Brenda (Frank), Darlene (Garth), brothers-in-law, Rick and Darrell, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Mary and Allister MacLeod, sisters-in-law Lorraine, and Brenda, and brothers-in-law Truman (Phemia), Stephen and Dennis.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Gordon’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in his memory to Buchanan Memorial Hospital Charitable Foundation in Neil’s Harbour. Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
