              It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing our beloved mother, Catherine Grace Bennett.  Mom passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, at the Northside Community Guest Home.

Born in Frenchvale on October 22, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Helen (Burns) MacInnis.

Mom often told stories of her early childhood, being raised on a farm in Frenchvale and of her deep faith, walking miles to attend church.  Mom loved to knit and crochet and quilt, there are probably still lots of folks wearing her famous slippers. 

Mom will be dearly missed by her daughters Sharon (Fred) Howard and Shirley (Donnie) MacDonald and daughter-in-law Elsie Bennett.  She was proud Nan to grandchildren Jason, Curtis (Jessica), Charlene (Danny), Michael (Lisa), Kenny (Mirna), O’Nan to great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob, Jaylynn, Hunter, Shyanne, Colton, Logan, Georgia, Sophia and Darien.

She is also survived by sisters and brothers, Margaret Findlay, Irene Clarke, Alex MacInnis and Harry (Cathy) MacInnis, brothers-in-law Alex (Mabel) Bennett and Leonard Guy and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her husband Roddie, sons Roddie (Gerry) and Buddy, granddaughter Selby and her beloved grandson Zachary MacDonald.

Mom was also predeceased by her sisters, Marie (William) Musgrave, Minnie (Allister) Stewart, sister-in-law Susie MacInnis, brothers-in-law Cecil Clarke and Earle Findlay, by the Bennett family, Arthur and Margaret (Boyd) Bennett, Sadie and Murdock Gillies, Hulda and Henry Blackie, Phyllis and John MacMullin, Wilfred and Isa Bennett, Floyd and Daisy Bennett, Arthur and Leona Bennett, Edgar and Jessie Bennett, Russell and Helen Bennett and Joan Guy.

We were so blessed to have Mom with us all these years, and now she can join all the family who are waiting for her.        

Visitation for Grace Bennett will take place Tuesday, August 10, 2021, from 2-4 pm in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, at 2 pm in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Fabian Ihunegbo officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery.
