Gregory Burchell Moores
March 13, 1961 – June 14, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gregory Burchell Moores, age 65, on June 14, 2026.
Born on March 13, 1961, in North Sydney, Greg was the beloved son of the late David Moores and Carol (Burchell) Moores.
Greg was a hardworking man who took great pride in his work throughout his life. He worked with the Municipality of Wood Buffalo in Environmental Services and spent more than twenty years as a labourer with LIUNA Local 92 in Fort McMurray. Earlier in his career, he also worked as an operator in Cape Breton with the Operators Union. Greg was respected by his coworkers and friends for his strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to lend a hand whenever needed.
Outside of work, Greg found his greatest happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He loved camping, hunting, fishing, and kayaking, especially when sharing those adventures with family and friends. He enjoyed tinkering around the yard, spending time outdoors, and making the most of every season. Above all, Greg treasured the life he shared with Lisa, the love of his life and devoted companion.
Greg will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by Lisa Poirier; his stepchildren, Daniel and Julieann Poirier; his cherished grandchildren, DJ, Maddie, Jayden, and Ryder; his son, Catlin Moores; his daughter, Judy Moores; his brother, James (Jean) Moores of Frenchvale; his sister, Laura Roberts of Calgary; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whose lives he touched over the years.
