Helen Crane Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the peaceful passing of Helen Mary (Bonnar) Crane, age 81, of Little Pond. Helen passed away on December 9, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of her children.

Born on November 1, 1944, Helen was the daughter of the late Bertha (Miller) and John James Bonnar. In her younger years, Helen ventured to the United States to work, gaining experiences she carried proudly throughout her life. Upon returning home, she worked for many years at the Alder Point Fish Plant, where she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication.

Later in life, Helen devoted herself fully to her home and family. A loving mother and grandmother, she found her greatest joy in time spent with her children and grandchildren. She cherished long walks and scenic drives, often shared with her family and her beloved sister Debbie. Helen also had a special place in her heart for her cat, Tigger, and never lost her love for the music of Elvis, which brought her much happiness.

Helen will be deeply missed by her children: Gordie, Rosie (Brian), Dougie, Johnny (Crystal), Jerome (Jen), and Patrick (Cavell); and by her cherished grandchildren: Nolan, Cody, Christina, Christopher, Marissa, Daniel, Matthew, Daniel, Douglas, Shannon, and Katie, along with several great-grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Debbie, Florence, Cassie, Kenny, Francis, and Danny, as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gordon Crane; her parents; and her siblings Raymond, Adrian, Kayward, Jean, Eddie and Ronnie.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 1:00–3:00 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m., at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Deacon David Lewis, with music by Andrew Doyle.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s name to the Northside Hospital Foundation.

Helen’s kindness, strength, and deep love for her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
