Helen Jessome Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife, and grandmother, Helen M Jessome (Lovell), age 72 on March 22, 2024.

Helen is predeceased by her parents, Alice, and George Lovell, and many of her siblings whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her loving husband, Percy Jessome, of 56 years, and daughters Lorena (John), Allison (Jackie), and Leigh-Anne. Grandchildren: Felicia (David), Renee (Craig), Miranda (Ian), Nathan, Spencer, Leslie, and Jenny. Great-grandchildren Eva Gabrielle, Lux, and Ryland were her pride and joy.

Helen was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 083 for many years, taking on many roles, which she did with great passion. She was a cook at the Miners Memorial Manor for over ten years. When she wasn’t working, you could find her playing cards or bingo at the Legion, at home, or down one of her sisters. Helen was always singing and dancing and cracking jokes. Her home was constantly filled with love and laughter, and you’d never leave hungry. Her good nature, pure heart, and infectious laugh will never be forgotten.

“God made a wonderful mother, A mother who never grows old; He made her smile of the sunshine. And he moulded her heart of pure gold; In her eyes He placed bright shining stars, In her cheeks fair roses you see; God made a wonderful mother, And He gave that mother to me.”

A heartfelt thank you to her niece Michelle Harris, for all you have done and the extra love and support you’ve given. Thank you to the nurses on the 4th floor at the Northside General Hospital for their exceptional care and comfort.

There will be no service, as per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, she would appreciate you say a prayer in her honor.
