Helene Theresa Devoe

                It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mom. Helene Theresa Devoe passed away on September 5th, 2024, in the Miner’s Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines, with her loving family by her side.

                Born on April 19th, 1934, in Alder Point. She was the daughter of the late Wilbert and Evelyn (LeBlanc) Theriault.  She lived all her life in Alder Point and was a lifetime member of St. Ann’s Church, Alder Point.

                Generous and giving, Helene loved and adored her family. She loved cooking and baking, especially tea biscuits and cinnamon rolls, which her family and friends could not get enough of. In her younger years, she worked as a waitress at Josie’s restaurant in North Sydney and the Texaco restaurant in Bras d’Or, where she made many lifetime friends. She enjoyed bingo and many card games. Helene will be fondly remembered for her quiet manner and friendly smile.

                Helene is survived by two daughters, Regina (Vincent) Serroul and Gale Devoe, two sons, Fred (Rita) and Alex (Barb), and one granddaughter, Sarah (Ben) Snook. Sisters Margaret (Edgar) Cantwell and Millie (Late Vincent) Erickson, sister-in-law Bernadette ( Late Phillip) Theriault, and numerous nieces and nephews.

                Besides her parents, Helene was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Russell, son Wilbert, and brothers Lawrence, Wilfred, Leonard, Phillip, and Freeman.

                As per her wishes, there will be no visitation; cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, September 12th, 2024, at St. Ann’s Parish, Alder Point, at 10:30 am with Father Alaribe Chinoso officiating. A reception will follow at the Alder Point Hall. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

                In Lieu of flowers, donations in Helene’s memory may be made to St. Ann’s Church Alder Point St. Joesph’s Cemetery, Bras d’Or, or the Charity of your choice.
