ISABEL C MACNEIL
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Isabel, 93,
at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Friday, September 20, 2024.
Mom was born on May 27, 1931, to the late Joseph and Rita (King) MacNeil of Sydney Mines.
She was then taken in and raised by the Crane family from Convent Street at a very young age.
She is survived by her five children: Bernie, Bras D’or, Francis (Francine) Point Aconi, Vince (Coralee), Laureen (Tom) Buffett, and Karen (Rick) Brown all of Sydney Mines.
Mom is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Bernadette (Jason) LeFrense their children, Tyson and Nolan, Scott (Alana) MacNeil, their children, Alex and Shea, Nicole (Matt) Dilney, their children Bodhi and Mila, Virginia MacNeil (Darren) her son Braxton,
Brennan MacNeil, Jessica (Logan) Carew, Samuel (Alicia) MacNeil, their children Jayce and Beckham, Brian MacNeil (Noelle) their son Jacob, Stacy MacNeil (Chris) their son Caiden, Kevin Jessome (Patricia) their children, Taylor and Nathan, Kyle (Ashley) Brown, their son Hudson, and Cory Brown (Brooke). She is also survived by two sisters, Agatha Cowie and Helen Hanratty, and brother-in-law Melvin MacNeil
In addition to her parents, mom was predeceased by her loving husband, Bernie (Bern), brothers Hammie, Frank and Connie MacNeil,
Stepbrothers and sisters, Joe, Tom, Cameron, Eddie, Ella and Mary.
Mom was a proud member of St. Joseph’s parish CWL Bras D’or, where she mastered the art of serving the perfect cup of tea or coffee, all while enjoying many conversations with the members of the community she so loved.
Our family would like to thank Dr Dawn Browne and Amanda. The Northside Homemaker caregivers. The Palliative Care doctors and Nurses
both those who came to her home and the team at the palliative care unit CBRH for their wonderful care shown to her during her brief stay.
Visitation for Mom will be held Wednesday September 25, 2024 from 4 to 7pm at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home 635 Main St Sydney Mines.
Mass for Christian Burial will be held Thursday September 26, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph’s Parish Bras D’or.
With a reception to follow at the parish hall.
