James “Kevin” Devoe

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of James Kevin Devoe on July 24th, 2023

Born on June 7th, 1949, he was the son of Arnold and Margaret (McBride) Devoe.

Kevin spent his working years as a burner and furnace mechanic, retiring from the Cape Breton Victoria School Board.

He had a kind soul, helping anyone in need. He loved to joke and tell stories, some that were actually true.

He spent many years camping and boating and loved his circle of friends, who visited him each day.

He is survived by children Carolyn, Jimmie (D Jonis), Sarah, Daniel (Christine); grandchildren Brooke (James), Hunter and Chase, Kyle, and Jenna (Dan); Megan, Andrew, and Matthew; great-grandchildren Ellie, Logan and Leah, his sister Maureen (Gil) Gilmore. Sister-in-law Betty Devoe, Beverly (Blowers), Lazarus, Debora H (Wilson) Carey, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Heather, Brothers Joe and Adrian, and son-in-law Sheldon Forrest.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ignacio and Dr. Wawer, also the nurses and staff of 5 East, Northside General Hospital, for their kindness and care.

Visitation for Kevin will be held at JM Jobes Funeral Home on Monday, July 31st, 1:00-3:00 pm, with a funeral service to follow. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
