James Gregory MacLean
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James Gregory MacLean on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Antigonish on November 28, 1941, he was the son of the late James A. and Irene (D’Eon) MacLean.
Jim was a jack of all trades; he was able to do anything he put his mind to. He had many hobbies; he was an avid guitar player, and he enjoyed playing with his friends and performing at many of the seniors’ homes in the area. He also loved to fish. When not fishing, he could be found tending to his beautiful garden. Jim was always happiest when surrounded by his family. After various jobs over his career, he retired as the Solid Waste Manager from the Baddeck location.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Debbie (Miller). Daughters Jocelyn, Jamie (Andre Bilski) Ont., and Maelyn MacIsaac. Grandchildren: Andrew, Trent, Tyler, Isabella, Cameron, and Nolan. Sisters: Annette (Francis Melanson), Louise (Wayne Mackenzie), Loretta (David Flaska). Brothers, Joey (Gwen), Tony, and Louis. Mother-in-law Sheila Miller, along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his sister Irene Yvonne and sister-in-law Pat.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Cape Breton Cancer Centre
In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
