Jessie Irene (Childs) Bailey

It is with heavy sad hearts that we announce the passing of a beautiful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Jessie Bailey, age 92, at home, on Tuesday, April 11, 2022.
Born in Newfoundland on October 11, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Lewellyn and Mary Jane Childs. She came to Cape Breton in 1946 and was married the late James Guy Bailey for 67 years before his passing in 2013.
Jessie is survived by her sons Lawrence (Yvonne) and Kevin, and daughters Elizabeth, Elaine, and Debbie (Gary Pyke). She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She had 8 wonderful sisters, Melissa, Louise, Irene, (George), Mildred (Austin), Faye
Ruby (Paul), Ruth (Angus), Nancy (Kirvy), four wonderful brothers Winston (Dot), Ben (Madonna), Austin (Lena), Lewellyn (Marlene), all originating from N.L.
She was predeceased by her husband (Guy) son Butch wife (Lily) Daughter Patty husband (Austin) 2 grandsons Jamie Bailey, Ricky Parsons, and son in-law Joe Boutilier.
She was a member of the Trinity Anglican Church Sydney Mines. Our mother was the back bone of the family. Many people and neighbours visited our home over the years. Mom would always greet them with a cup of tea and sweet. Special thank you goes out to Tina Brown who been an awesome neighbour. Barbara Martin would entertain her at her home and chat about the Bailey family. Kim Bailey VON, granddaughter in-law who visited her in time of sickness. Also, to the homecare workers who were amazing to her. Jenny Cousins with her visits and talks.
Pencie Granchelli, who visited her each week for her church envelope and chats.
Dr. Michel McKeough who was her doctor for many years. Most important of all was her wonderful son Kevin who personally looked after her sickness with devotion, love, and caring. He was her special Angel.
You were the most wonderful mother that anyone could ever have. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her favorite Bible verse was;
In my Fathers’ house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you and when I come again. I will take you on to myself so that where I am you maybe also. John 14: 2-3.
Visitation for Jessie Bailey will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2022, from 1-3 pm in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A celebration of her life will take place at 3 pm, in the funeral home, with Rev. Jackie Warren officiating.
