It is with deep sorrow that we, the family, announce the passing of Joan Marie Young, a Devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother who cherished her family above all. She was the daughter of the late Nathan and Theresa (Boutilier) MacNeil.
Joan, born in Bras d’Or, was a beacon of light in her community. Her career as a Registered Nurse at Harbourview Hospital was a testament to her dedication to helping others. In her retirement, she found the greatest joy in spending time with her beloved family.
Left to mourn her loss are her husband, Allison Young, her only child; daughter, Brenda Jessome; Grandson Ricky (Kathleen); Great-Grandson Blair, Granddaughter April (Joe), and Great-Granddaughter Gabriella; and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by a special niece, Arleen, Sister Eileen, and Brothers Sid, Freeman, and Howard.
A special thank you from the family must be extended to the doctors and nurses who took such special care of her over the year, including the VON, Dr. Andrew Wawer, Dr. Naqvi, Dr. Northgrave, and the staff with the County Home Makers, we are forever grateful for all your attention and care over the years.
Cremation has taken place; a private family service will be held. The family will receive visitors following the service at the Millville Community Hall for a lunch-on on Monday, Aug 5th, at 12: pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Joan’s honour to the Northside Hospital Foundation.
