We regret to announce the passing of the late John (Jack) Robert Bragg, 89, on April 11th, 2024, at Northside Regional Hospital, surrounded by loving family.

Born in Sydney Mines on April 8th, 1935, he was the son of the late Casper and Marcella (Reid) Bragg. He was a Bible student of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He retired in 1993 from Marine Atlantic after 42 years. Jack was an avid downhill skier and skied up until the age of 87. He liked to ski at Ben Eion, Cape Smokey, Marble Mountain Newfoundland, and Mont St Anne in Quebec. He also loved swimming in the summer and hiking the Skyline Trail and Fishing Cove. He loved drives around the Cabot Trail with Mom and stopping at their favorite restaurant, The Rusty Anchor. He had a real passion for gardening and loved fishing at the Bell Lakes.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jaqueline (Pearcey). He is also survived by his sons Bruce (Carol Anne), Darren (Jane); daughters Carol McNeil, Valerie (Alex) Pendergast and by his grandchildren, Kerri, Kelly, Ashley, Holly, Caitlin, Jeffrey, Erin, Tyler, Jennifer, Matthew, Dylan, Megan, Steven, Taylor as well as 15 great-grandchildren. He had a very special bond with his great granddaughter Kassidy. He is also survived by his brothers Harold (Millie), Don (Jessie), and sisters Jessie (Brent) Beck, Joan Hill, and sister-in-law Shirley Bragg, Loraine Rogers, and brother-in-law David (Alice) Pearcey and also many nieces and nephews.

 He is predeceased by his brothers Cecil (Mary), Walter (Doris), Raymond, and Gordon (Nona), as well as his sisters Thelma (Howard) Pettipas and Sarah (Chuck) Dowling.

Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation or funeral service by request.
