It is with great sadness that the family of John James Campbell announce his passing on April 23, 2026, at the age of 61. John was from Sydney Mines and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
John was the beloved son of the late Cornelius “Pops” Campbell and Florence Campbell. He will be remembered for his loyal heart, sharp sense of humour, and the way he could turn an ordinary conversation into a story worth retelling.
He was a loving father to his sons, John (Sarah) and Ryan, and a proud grandfather to Isabella and Penelope, who brought great joy to his life. John was also the beloved twin brother of Joan, who will deeply miss their coffee dates, and brother to Susan and Cheryl. He was a treasured friend to many, especially Joe, the brother he never had. Thank you for always being there for him.
John also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins who will carry forward memories of his laughter, stories, and warmth.
Anyone who knew John knew there were two things he never hid: his love for family and his dedication to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Through every season, every comeback, and every heartbreak, he remained faithful to his team.
John leaves behind memories of laughter, friendship, spirited hockey conversations, and quiet acts of kindness that meant more than words can express. He will be remembered always for the love he gave so freely and the lasting impact he made on those around him.
Though he is gone from sight, his stories, his spirit, and the love he gave remain stitched into the hearts of those he leaves behind forever.
The family will welcome visitors from 1–2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at JM Jobes Funeral Home. A service to celebrate John’s life will be held in the funeral home at 2 p.m. All who knew him are welcome to attend.
