It is with broken and heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our beloved brother “Jack” on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney River—born October 24, 1957, to the late David and Eva (Hillier) Flemming of Millville.
Jack grew up in a large family and was a friend to all. Despite being handicapped, Jack’s witty personality made him special to all who knew him. He loved to joke and come up with nicknames for everyone. He enjoyed music, especially fiddle, and his greatest love was the Celtic Serenade radio program. He never missed a show in 51 years. Jack loved Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, sports and the news on tv. He loved having his cup of tea sitting on the patio with CC.
He leaves behind his sister and caregiver, Cecilia (CC), who was his guiding light—also survived by brothers Arthur (Mary), Millville; Bernie (Sue Oliver), St. Catharines, ON; sisters Mary Ann (Harry) Jackson, Wileville; Carol (Ron) Theriault, Millville; Theresa, Halifax; Carmel (Charles Robertson), Ottawa; Rose (Mark) Powell, Stillwater Lake; Karen (Stephen) Turple, Comox, BC; Fran (Blake) Clothier, Springfield Lake; Margie (Doug) Jessome, Millville; Eva (Tom Bevis), Halifax; sister-in-law Elizabeth, Millville; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, David and Eva Flemming; brother Vincent; two sisters in infancy; and nephew, Connor Bevis. Entrusted to the care of J.M. Jobes Funeral. Immediate family visitation only. Funeral service at St. Joseph’s Church, Bras d’Or, Tuesday, November 19th at 10:30 am.
Family flowers only. In Jack’s memory, donations to The Coast 89.7 Coastal Community Radio’s weekly program Celtic Serenade are appreciated at 170 George St, Suite 101, Sydney B1P 1J2 or https://coastalradio.ca/fundraising/
