With heavy hearts, the family of John Frew Lamond announce his peaceful passing in October 2025 at the age of 95, at Harbourview Hospital, Sydney Mines, NS.
John lived a life marked by quiet dedication, kindness, and a deep love of learning and music. A retired schoolteacher, his career took him to communities across Canada, where he inspired countless students with his knowledge, patience, and gentle spirit.
An accomplished pianist and organist, John shared his musical gifts generously, playing for worship services in several churches over the years. His passion for sacred and classical music brought joy to many and remained close to his heart throughout his life.
John also had a special love for animals, especially dogs. Over the years, he shared his home with many beloved canine companions who brought him great comfort and companionship.
He is lovingly remembered by his nieces Betty Ann MacIntyre (David), Donna Lee Murray, Mary Arlene Reid; his nephew Bob Gilbert; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Lamond; his sisters Jean (John) Bond, Margaret (William) Gilbert, and Sarah; his brother William; and his nephew David Gilbert.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Andrew Wawer and the dedicated staff of the Veterans Wing at Harbourview Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion. Special thanks as well to Jobes Funeral Home for their guidance and support.
A private family service will be held at a later date, with interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
