It is with sadness that we announce the passing of John Scott MacQueen, 62, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
John was the beloved son of Joan MacQueen and the late Scottie MacQueen.
John leaves behind his loving mother, Joan; siblings Lindsay (Kent) and Allan (Kellie); daughter, Kalin (Ronnie); granddaughters, Bella and Kyla; nieces, Katherine (Nick), Kristen (Shawn), and Jenna (Mitchel).
John was a very talented musician and former owner of Northside Music. Music was a great passion in his life and he shared that gift with many people over the years.
John was a kind and caring person who faced many struggles throughout his life. Despite these challenges, he remained supported by those closest to him and the wonderful people at Souls Harbour Mission — where there was never judgment, just dignity and kindness.
The family wish to thank ICU staff for their care and professionalism, Dr. Andrew Wawer, Souls Harbour Mission for always being there and finally to those who supported John during his challenging times, your kindness will not be forgotten.
In Lieu of flowers, Memorial donations in John’s honour can be made to the Sydney Mines branch of Souls Harbour Mission or a charity of one’s choice.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
