John, “Jock”, McDougall,

Sydney Mines

We, the family of John, “Jock” McDougall 93, announce his peaceful passing on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Miner’s Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines.

Formerly of Fraser Avenue,  Sydney Mines, he was the son of Mary and John (Jack) McDougall.

He was predeceased by his wife, Rose (Romeo), in 2002, brother Joe, and sisters Anastasia (Tommy Oakes) and Rita (Sis) (Art Webster).

He is survived by sons John (Anne Shirley)  Florence; Greg, North Sydney; Glenn (Mary Beth), Shediac, N.B.; and Jamie (Kim), Guelph, Ontario; along with 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

At this time, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff of Miners Memorial Manor who went above and beyond to welcome Poppa into their community and Dr. Doug Kholsmith for the kindness and consideration shown to us, especially over the past few weeks.  A special thank you to Dr. Michel McKeough and Louise for their many years of dedication and consideration given to Dad, Mom and us.  Words cannot express our gratitude.

At Poppa’s request, there will be no visitation and a private burial will take place at a later date.

Should you desire to do so, memorial donations may be made to Miner’s Memorial Manor, 15 Lorne St., Sydney Mines, NS  B1V 3B9
