John “Jock” Robertson Brown
It is with deep sadness that we, the family announce the passing of John “Jock” Brown on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at home.
Born in Florence on October 28, 1949, he was the son of the late John and Lettie (Mac Intyre) Brown.
Jock’s family was the light of his light; he was always so proud of his two boys; they were his pride and joy until his granddaughter came along. Jock was a coal miner for 32 years and a member of Local 92 for 16 years. He loved to travel and visit many different countries. Every Wednesday night, you could find Jock at his card game; every morning, you could find him at Tim Horton’s in Bras d’Or. He knew everybody, and if he didn’t know. He would find out about it fast, usually from his Tim Horton’s Buddies. There were always lots of laughs and lies being told. Jock was a busy guy; he never missed a Saturday night Circle at the Florence Legion and will be missed drinking beer in the barn with the guys on Friday and Sunday nights. Jock was a life long leafs fan.
Jock leaves behind his loving wife, Edith (Cox) Brown, and sons John and Trevor (Debbie) Brown. His special granddaughter, Olivia Gracie, and sister, Betty MacEachern. He also leaves behind special friends, Johnny (Mackie), Jackie, Micky
Besides his parents, Jock was predeceased by brother Jimmy, Mother and Father-in-Law Raymond, and Hildegarde (Froster) Cox.
The Family will welcome visitors from 12 to 2 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024, with a celebration of life to follow at 2 p.m., with Rev. Steven Mills officiating in JM Jobes Funeral Home Ltd. 635 Main St. Sydney Mines. NS
