John Thomas Robinson

It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of John Thomas
Robinson of North Sydney on June 2, 2026, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded
by the love of his family.
Born in North Sydney on March 13, 1946, John was the son of the late Fabian and Regis
Robinson(Marsh).
John was a proud and dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, serving his country
faithfully for over 30 years. Following his retirement, he embraced the simple joys in life that
brought him so much happiness. He loved spending time with family and friends, sharing
laughter, music, guitars, and some drinks during those down-home kitchen parties. He and his
wife also loved going out dancing in their younger years.
John had a quiet sense of humor and was always ready to poke fun and make those around
him smile. He and his beloved wife, Janie, shared a love of music and spent many enjoyable
years playing in dart leagues together, often coming home with stories and, at times, a well-
earned steak from their winnings.
After the passing of his beloved wife, John took on many things around the home with quiet
determination and care. He became well known among family and friends for making
homemade pies, bread, fat archies (molasses cookies), chow, and his delicious bread-and-
butter pickles — traditions he proudly carried on and generously shared with those he loved.
In his leisure time, John enjoyed reading a good scary book, listening to old country music, and
tending to his gardens, which he cared for with pride. He was also known for looking after his
neighbours and lending a helping hand whenever needed — a true reflection of his heart of
gold.
In later years, John found great joy on the golf course, spending cherished time with his best
friends, sharing laughs and good-natured jokes about golf balls landing in the woods more often
than not.
Above all, John was a devoted father, brother, uncle, cherished Poppa, and friend. He was a
steady presence, a kind soul, and a man whose love for his family was deeply felt. He will be
forever missed and lovingly remembered.
John leaves behind his loving children: Arnold (Carol), Rosalie (Jim), Janie (Mark), Juanita,
Clifton (Terri), Lisa (Joe), and John Jr.; brothers Rob (Lucy) and Jude (Christine); and sister
Nancy. He will also be lovingly remembered by his cherished grandchildren, great-
grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear
friends.
Besides his parents, Fabian and Regis Robinson, John was predeceased by his beloved wife,
Janie; son, Keith; sister, Joan; and brother, Adrian.

A visitation will be held on Monday June 8, 2026 from 1-2 pm with a celebration of life directly following at 2 pm in JM Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemtery.
