Joseph Kenneth “Kenny” Saunders
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of Joseph Kenneth “Kenny” Saunders, age 68, at Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on August 2, 1955. He was the son of the late John and Helen Saunders (Sis Devoe).
Kenny owned and operated Saunders Towing for many years. He also worked at Blinkhorns Paving. He will be remembered for his “Toronto travel stories” and his passion for trucks, cars, tractors, and mechanic work.
He is survived by sisters Marie (Robert J.) Potter, Rose MacRae of Sydney Mines, Matilda O’Toole of Alder Point, Bernadette “Goodie” Saunders of North Sydney. Sister-in-laws Lillian, Sharon, and Diane Saunders. Along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His nephew Trevor (who was like a son to him) was always there to lend a hand if Kenny needed it.
Besides his parents, Kenny was predeceased by sister Judy (Charlie) Young, baby brother William James, brothers John Kevin “Red,” Bernard Francis, Alex Louis “Bucky,” Ernie, brothers-in-law Rob “Bozo” Royal, and Michael O’Toole, along with best buddy Bernie Blinkhorn.
The family would like to send a sincere thank you to Dr. Andrew Wawer and the Northside General Hospital 5 East staff.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 4th, 2024 from 1-3 pm. with a prayer service at 3pm. in J M Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
