It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Josh Edward Evans, beloved son of Dale and Jo-Ellen Evans, who left us on May 11.2026 at the age of 43.
Josh was born on November 17.1982 in Edmonton, Alberta and moved to Sydney Mines at a young age. Josh returned to Alberta and worked as a scaffolder on numerous jobsites throughout the province and most recently was employed with Praxair.
A fearless spirit, a wild soul, and a heart bigger than most people ever got to see. Strong, loyal, protective, and impossible to forget, he carried more love, pain, strength, and loyalty than most will ever understand. Josh will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious smile, giggling laughter, and humorous sarcasm. He loved to laugh and share it with those around him.
Besides his parents, Josh is survived by his son Damien of Edson, Alberta and his stepdaughter Samantha Buffett (Sammy Jo), of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia., daughter of Cara Buffet, his forever friend, his maternal grandmother Gloria Reid, and his girlfriend Tamara Miller. Also left to mourn are many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his best friend Billy Parlee.
He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Bill and Beatrice Evans and maternal grandfather Joseph William Reid.
A visitation will be held on Friday May 29,2026 from 12-2 pm with a service to celebrate Josh’s life directly following at 2 pm in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines. Words of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home website.
