We, the family, with broken hearts, announce the passing of our loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He left this world the same way he lived it, peaceful.
Born and raised in East St. John, NB, he grew up with only love from his mom and dad, aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters, and grandparents. This love he was surrounded by created a man who could only give the same to his own, to others, and in everything he did.
His passion for music began at a very early age. By age 13 he was a member of the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra, and he was awarded top violinist in all of Canada. By the age of 17, he was selected to play at the opening of Expo in 1967 and became a member of the New Brunswick Symphony Orchestra, the youngest violinist for both.
He went on to study music at Acadia and is known back in New Brunswick as an accomplished violinist. He began his music career in 1973 and retired his teaching career as principal in 2005. During these years, North Highlands Cape Breton became home as a music teacher, principal, municipal counselor, and a member of various community committees. His other passions were hunting, fishing, and
gardening. When he wasn’t teaching you would find him in his natural element, nature, taking in all it has to offer bringing him pure joy.
He was the son of Herman & Marie Verner. He is survived by his children Kate (John) Fraser, Karl (Raeann) Verner, and Stefan (Caitlyn) Verner. His grandchildren Jack, Andy, Isaac, Chesley, and Huxley also known as “Grampie’s boys”. The mother of his children, Cheryl Verner. He is also survived by his
