It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Kevin Brendan Fyfe, 76, of Sydney Mines, after his final battle with cancer, at home surrounded by those whom he cherished the most.
Born in North Sydney to the late Austin and Eileen (Burns) Fyfe, Kevin gained the respect and friendship of most everyone he met throughout his life, from childhood to the end of his long career in the transport industry.
Kevin was a lifetime member of the KOC in North Sydney. He was always up for a good debate, especially to explain why he was right, or a good game of golf with his dear friend Brian Joseph, whom he had been friends with since the age of 4. We thank Brian Joseph for his daily visits and stories, his compassion and love, and his prayers.
Kevin leaves to mourn his loving wife of 52 years, Cecelia (Haggett) Fyfe. HIs daughters Shannon (Norman) MacQueen and Carroll Anne Fyfe. Grandchildren Nicole, Logan, Curtis, Nolan & Max, and his eldest sister Ann Eileen Fyfe.
Kevin was predeceased by his younger sister Maureen Fyfe, and infant granddaughter Kimberly.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the team of Palliative Care nurses and VON for their support and kindness during this difficult time.
In keeping with Kevin’s wishes cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A funeral mass to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 11 AM at St. Joseph’s Parish, North Sydney, with Fr. Angus MacDougall officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palliative Care, VON Canada, or the Cancer Centre at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
