It is with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother, and sister Lexie MacNeil on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Born in Neil’s Harbour, Nova Scotia on August 23, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Marie (Gillis) MacNeil.

She is survived by daughter Dawn MacLean-Collins (Mike) grandson Rowen, son Jeffrey MacLean (Glori), and grandson Hayden. She is also survived by her sisters Linda Donovan, Lorraine MacNeil, and Debbie Williams (Norman). She was a special aunt to nieces Laurie, Mandy, and Tanya, nephews Mike, Mathew, and Graham, and her grandnieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.  

Lexie also leaves behind many lifelong friends, in-laws, special cousins, and those near and dear to her because everyone who was blessed to have her in their life was loved, cherished, and taken care of in her way. We will all remember her sense of humor, belly laughs, she made with love meals, and baking which she gifted often. She had the softest, kindest soul and always fretted over family, friends, neighbours, strangers, animals even the poor little birds out in the cold. This softness is what made her special but also weighed heavy on her gentle soul for she carried the weight of the world around because she wanted and needed to know everyone and everything was going to be ok.

Besides her parents, Lexie her parents, her nephew Jamie Hardy and the father of her children David MacLean.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am in St. Peter’s Church, Ingonish,  on Friday, January 20, 2023, with Fr. Jonas Uwaezuoke officiating.  A reception will follow at the Ingonish Volunteer Fire Department Hall in North Ingonish.
