It’s with broken hearts we announce the passing of Lillian age 76 on Saturday, January 4th, 2025 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. She passed peacefully without fear surrounded by loving family.
Born in Alder Point she was the daughter of the late Peter and Elvena (LeBlanc) Hawkins.
She often talked about what a wonderful childhood she had growing up in a close-knit community with her loving family. Although she married and moved to Toronto, she would return home often for visits and eventually return to live.
Lillian was quiet, kind and always looked at others with an open heart and mind.
Lillian is survived by her husband Joseph Devoe, children Theresa (Lorne), Elvena (Curtis), Stephen and Evan. She loved all her grandchildren and was so happy she was able to travel to Alberta in 2023 to meet some of her great grandchildren. Lillian was close to all her nieces and nephews and loved them like her own. Also left to mourn are her sisters Debbie, Heidy (Bill), Judy, Linda and Wina Brothers Mark, Peter (Miriam), Timmy (Michelle), and Kelly. She loved her cousins Gerry Jessome and Judy Reid and considered them her sisters.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.
