Lois LeBlanc Obituary

Lois Ann LeBlanc

March 10, 1946 - November 19, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we, the family of Lois LeBlanc, announce her passing after a brief battle with cancer.

Lois was born and raised in Alder Point and grew up across the street from the love of her life, Austin. They married in 1966 and raised their family just down the road.

Early in her career, she worked at the Alder Point fish plant and eventually gave that up to lobster fish with her husband and son for 28 years. When she finally retired from the boat, it was to be a caregiver to her mom in the final years of her life.

Lois loved spending her summers at their cabin in Ross Ferry. You could always find her combing the beach for sea glass.

She was an amazing and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. She doted on us all at her family gatherings…and we especially couldn’t wait for her famous turkey and gravy she served up every Christmas Eve.

She was a beloved member of St. Anne’s Church in Alder Point and a committed volunteer for her community, always ready and willing to do anything she could to lend a helping hand.

Lois is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Austin; her children Karen Young, Eric (Tara), and Dennis (Lee Ann); 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters and best friends Betty, Jane (Don), Florence, Patricia (Ed), and her brothers Billy and Peter.

She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and John Joe Arsenault, her grandson Peter, brothers-in-law Ronnie and Dale, and sister-in-law Dorothy.

Lois will also be deeply missed by her extended LeBlanc family, numerous nieces & nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service will be held at St Anne’s church in Alder Point at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 25. A reception luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the Alder Point community hall. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the palliative care team, especially Julia.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre or a charity of your choice.

“And now these three remain faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

Corinthians 13:13

We love you to the moon and back Mom.
