                It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of the late Loretta Dawe, announce her peaceful passing after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

                Loretta was born on April 29, 1944, the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret “Peg” (Williston) Taylor. She is survived by her loving husband, Gordon William Dawe (Duck); her daughter, Robin Lynn; Sons, John Lawerence, Robert (Peggy), Dean (Ethel), and Stuart (Emmaline). Her sisters are Delores (Adrian), Carol Harding, Joanne, Brenda (Lawerence), and Amanda Marie. Brothers Lawrence, Alfred (Natalie), and Michael (Melissa). Brother-in-law Clifford (Marilyn), Sister-in-law Ida, and Patricia Taylor.  As well as ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

                She was predeceased by her daughter Kathy, sister Catherine, brothers William and Robert, son-in-law Jeff Smith, and sister-in-law Yvonne Dawe and Stuart Rudderham. 

                Loretta was a true entrepreneur throughout her life; She loved working with the public alongside her husband and family. There were too many businesses to mention, but they were known for Cisco’s takeout and Loretta’s next-to-new furniture and collectibles. Loretta had many passions, including Family gatherings, poker nights, antique hunting, gardening, interior design, long drives, cooking, and, of course, dancing to her favorite music.

                Loretta was loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. She left us with a lifetime of precious memories, and her legacy will live on in her children.

                A special thank you from the family to the Palliative Care Team, VON, and the Canadian Red Cross for all the support over the months. Thank you, Julia (Mom’s Favorite Nurse), for guiding us through this journey; we Love you! Thank you to her sisters and brothers, who stood by her the entire way. To the neighbors, friends, and family, thank you for your support over the last 15 months. We are forever grateful.

                Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held Monday, March 18, 2024, from 1 to 3 p.m. at JM Jobes Funeral Home in Sydney Mines. A service will follow at 3 p.m.
