**** SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT ****
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, Aug 1st, 2025
From 2-3 pm at St. Anne Church, Alder Point
Jan 29 1934 – April 18, 2025 (91 Years)
Lou passed away at the Northside General Hospital on April 18 2025. Born in Mill Creek on January 29, 1934, he was the son of the late John and Emma (Jessome) Marsh.
He married Genevieve Norma Marsh on October 7, 1988, spending 36 years together as best friends and soulmates.
Lou leaves behind four sons and one daughter: John (Brenda), Ken (Leslie), Alex (Odette), Tom (Peggy) and Janie (Paul). Lou was predeceased by his son Russell. He also has four stepsons George (Karen), Darren, Stephen (Viktoria ) and Kenny (Jung Eun).
Lou was also predeceased by his parents, wife Norma and brothers Clarence, Theodore, Wilfred, James, Regis, Gerald, Tommy, Lawrence, Sylvester, Peter and sisters Emeline, Marcella, Mary, Evelyn, and Marie.
As much as he loved his children, Lou really, really loved his grandchildren – they could do no wrong and enjoyed hearing about their adventures. He is survived by his 24 grandchildren – Erin Marsh (Taylor), Don Marsh (Elizabeth), Jodi Stansky, David Togeretz (Andrea), Andrea Marsh (Chris), Shane Marsh (Brittany), Jordan Walker (Maria), Victoria Walker, Mackenzie Marsh, Sarah Marsh, Crystal Marsh, Danyka Valentine (Rob), Gabrielle Bilodeau-Marsh, Dominique Bilodeau-Marsh, Kristyn MacPherson (Eric), TJ Marsh (Julia), Alana Penny (Ian), Burgess Penny (Sherisse), Jocelyn Vickers and step grandchildren Brittany Poirier (Daina), Nicole Poirier (Russell), Catherine Poirier, Alexandra Poirier and Alexander Poirier.
Lou has 32 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister Margaret Marsh Harrington and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Lou began his work life on the Great Lakes which he really enjoyed. He followed that by working at Devco for 35 years of employment at both the Prince and Princess Collieries. However nothing could beat retirement when he spent numerous hours daily ‘tinkering’ and fixing everything imaginable. We joked that he had a solution for everything.
Thank you to New Dawn Enterprises for their care at home and to those who helped to ease his stay at the Northside Community Guest Home and Northside General Hospital especially to Dr Andrew Wawer.
