It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Louise (Gracie) LeBlanc, age 85, of Alder Point, on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on January 11, 1940, to the late Hubert and Elsie (Fougere) Gracie, Louise is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Tom LeBlanc; her sons Tom (Sherry), Bobby, Jimmy (Wina), and Joey (April); grandchildren Jennifer (Jason), Jordan (Vicky), Randy (Robyn), Travis, Tyler, Nicholas, and Miranda; and her cherished great-grandchildren Les, Leo, Jaymes, Ivy, Kinsley, and Kamdyn.
She is also survived by her loving sisters Marie (Courtney), Rita (Michael), Betty (John), and Jean (Ron); brothers Maurice (Gladys), John, Wally (Tina), Bernie (Alice), Michael (Mary), Francis (Judy), Donald (Velvet), and Albert (Corine); sisters-in-law Theresa and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Louise will be fondly remembered by her many LeBlanc brothers- and sisters-in-law, with whom she shared countless memories and lifelong bonds.
In addition to her parents, Louise was predeceased by her brother Earl, her sister Diana, and her in-laws Andrew and Katie LeBlanc.
After graduating from Business College, Louise began her career at the Bank of Nova Scotia. She later stepped away from the workforce to raise her family, and later returned as the Postmistress at the Alder Point Post Office — a role she held with pride and care. Louise was also a dedicated partner to her husband Tom, playing an important role in supporting his trucking and excavation business over the years.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the emergency and palliative care staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their outstanding care, kindness, and compassion during this difficult time.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at JM Jobes Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, July 14, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Alder Point.
