It is with profound sadness that we announce Jessie’s passing on May 15, 2026. Born March 8, 1940, in Cheticamp she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Beatrice (Harris) Burns.
Jessie graduated from the Cape Breton Business College and spent her early career in office administration for several different employers. She later worked as a bookkeeper in the retail sector before retiring.
Jessie, along with her husband, Ted, lived an active life, skiing, fishing, camping, golfing, and dancing up a storm whenever the opportunity arose. There were many fantastic memories made around the pool with family and friends and there was always a good card or board game.
Jessie is survived by her husband of 42 years, Theadore (Ted), daughters Patricia (Tom), Denise (Eddie), Heidi (Colin), sons Jack (Lani), Richard (Sheri Dawn) and stepchildren Rose (David) and Drew (Marcie) and daughter-in-law, Lisa. Grandchildren Stephanie, Julian, Ryan, Kirstie, Tommy, Greg, Erica, Keely, Adam, Alex, Ian, Nicholas, Mikela, Jacob, Nathan and Abby. Great-grandchildren Joseph, Asa, Brynn, Lennon, Luca, Jordyn, Romi and Owen. Sister Liz (Alaister) and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Louis and her first husband, Louis.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on Friday May 22 at 2:00 pm with service to follow at 3:00 pm at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home 635 Main St. Sydney Mines.
