It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Frances LeDrew-MacLeod on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by her family and friends.
Born in Sydney Mines on March 29th, 1949, she was the oldest daughter of the late Frank and Elenor (LeBlanc) Miller.
A natural green thumb and could be found tending to her gardens. She often used what she grew to create beautiful meals in the kitchen for her family to enjoy. In her downtime, Marilyn enjoyed a good movie, the scarier, the better. Always a kind heart and soul, Marilyn was always involved in the community and a lifelong parishioner of the Holy Family parish in Sydney Mines.
Marilyn leaves behind a partner of 45 years, Sharon (Ducky) MacLeod, two sons, Alex (Lisa) LeDrew and James Boutilier, a daughter, Kelly LeDrew, and granddaughters, Beth, Robyn, Carrie, and a great-granddaughter, River, as well as many closes friend who was like family.
Besides her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her brother Marvin, nephew Marvin Jr., and Freddie MacLean, whom she carried for over the years like a son.
Her family would like to thank the staff at the palliative care unit in the Cape Breton Regional, including all the doctors, nurses, and staff who have tended to her care over the years. We are forever grateful to you all; in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Cape Breton Hospital Foundation in Marilyn’s memory.
Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 14th, at JM Jobes Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines, from 12-2, with a service at 2 pm. All who knew her were welcome to attend.
