With great sadness, the family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Marguerite MacLean. Born in Sydney Mines on October 22nd, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Irene (McGee) Jessome.
She is survived by her daughter Ann, Sons Gerard and Paul (Lorna), and only granddaughter "a great joy" Lindsey (Dylan), sisters Phyllis (Albert) Wilkie, Agnes MacLean, Maureen (David) Bobbitt, Mary (Ed) Bennett, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marguerite was predeceased by both her parents, brothers Jimmy and Terry, brother-in-law Russell MacLean, Nephews Russell MacLean Jr. and Joseph (Jo Jo) MacLean, and her special friend Freeman Haley.
Marguerite was an active C.W.L. member at Holy Family Parish and a lifelong member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch 8 for over 50 years. She had a smile and a joke for everybody. Her favorite topic was cats, and she loved her orange cat, “Pumpkin.” Watching movies like Harry Potter and Rambo was her favorite pastime, and she also did puzzles and enjoyed playing bingo. Dressing up for Halloween was one event she always looked forward to every year.
Her wish was to have her body donated to science. “A giant in her presence even though she was small”
The family will receive visitors at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 30th, from 4-7 pm; a Celebration of Marquerite's life will be held on Wednesday, July 31st, at 11 am at Holy Family Parish, Sydney Mines; all who knew her are welcome to attend.
