Mary Harron Obituary

It is with much love and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Mary Judith (Judy) Harron, our soulmate, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Born in Inverness on May 16, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Mose and Annie LeBlanc.

She will be sadly missed by the love of her life Charlie LeBlanc; children Rochelle (Mackenzie) Robinson, and Christopher (Mandy) Harron; grandchildren Austin and Jessalyn Robinson, Reanna, Lauren, and Cody Harron; and great-grandchild “Amazing” Grace; brother-in-law Douglas LeBlanc; nieces and nephews; as well as her former spouse and father of her children Cyril (Buddy) Harron. Besides her parents, Judy was predeceased by her sisters, Isabel, Marie, and Shirley, as well as her brother, Marcellin.

After graduating from Sydney Mines High School in 1967, Judy went on to obtain her teacher's certificate from Nova Scotia Teachers College. She was a dedicated educator who touched the lives of many children throughout her 30-year teaching career.

Judy gained the respect and friendships of everyone she met throughout her lifetime, and each friendship was so special to her. At the time of her passing, she still maintained the friendships she had made during her childhood. Judy was up for any adventure and was always ready to help during difficult times.

Her greatest joy came with the births of her children, Rochelle and Chris. Her grandchildren brought even greater happiness. "Nanny Judy" was their biggest cheerleader, whether it be at hockey games, gymnastics, or figure skating. She looked forward to their visits to Cape Breton, Ontario, or Alberta. Their favorite recipes would be baked, a deck of cards always handy, dinner dates scheduled at favorite restaurants, and shopping trips would be at the top of her list. Her special "singing" Happy Birthday wishes will be greatly missed as each birthday passes each year.

In recent years, the happiness in Judy's life continued to grow as she enjoyed a fun and loving relationship with her soulmate, Charlie. They made many memories together including the infamous dances at the Pensioners Club, getaways to Halifax and Newfoundland, road trips to Cheticamp for a musical evening at the Doreyman and many evenings filled with good times and special friends.

Faith was the center of Judy's life. She shared God's love in her church community by singing in the choir, and serving as a member of the bereavement team. Judy's positive outlook during her recent illness was a testament of her unwavering faith in God.

Judy's happy place was definitely by the ocean. In the summer, she loved sitting on the beach listening to the waves, and in the winter, she would sit in the car with the window down, listening to the waves, which brought a sense of calm to her spirit. She also loved to search the beach for as much sea glass as she could find and passed this on to Rochelle and her granddaughters.

The week before Judy's passing was filled with many happy moments and memories. Memories her family and friends will cherish forever. Sipping on a coffee at Lockman's Beach, butterscotch sundaes, Chinese food, a little bit of shopping, singing Christmas carols (she loved Christmas), dancing a jig, visits with special friends and just hearing her say, "I love you honey" and we love you "Auntie Smurf" all made her time so special. We would like to thank Dr. Michelle McKeough for looking after our mother for the past 40 years.

We would also like to thank the staff on the fourth floor at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Urgent Care at the Northside General Hospital for their professional and compassionate care for our mom. A big thanks to the Northside Homemakers for coming in each morning and brightening the start to moms day. Also to her many special friends for their love and support during her brief illness, you all made her feel so comforted and special.

A visitation for Judy Harron will take place on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025 from 6-8 p.m at JM Jobes Funeral Home in Sydney Mines. A funeral mass to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, March 5th, at 11 a.m, in Holy Family Church Hall. A burial will take place at a later date.

"She found her peace where the ocean meets the shore, her spirit forever entwined with the waves she loved so dearly.
