                It is with great sadness that we, the family of Melissa Margaret Walker, announce her passing after a brief and sudden illness at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on November 14, 2023, with her two children by her side.

                Melissa was born on June 20, 1963, in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, to parents Raymond and Elizabeth (Betty) Walker, and was the youngest of Five children. She is survived by her son Ian Jardine, daughter Tara Jardine, sisters Veronica (Pat) Murphy, Linda (Ray) Whyte, Pat (Clint) Lettice, and brother Bob (Lois) Walker, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by both parents and her beloved dog Lexie.

If you knew Mom, you know that she has been battling Multiple Sclerosis for many years and there were people who helped her a great deal along the way that we the family would like to thank including Dr. Eugene Ignacio, the staff at the VON in Sydney and all the staff at the Northside Homemakers whom Mom loved very much as they helped her stay comfortable in her home for so many years. Your kindness to her will never be forgotten.

                There will be a visitation held at JM Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines on November 17,2023 from 4-6 pm

Mom’s battle against Multiple Sclerosis was a hard-fought one, and we want everyone to know that she continued to fight hard until the very end. We are so proud of you, Mom, and we Love you.
