Michael (Mickey) McCormick Sr.
It is with deep sadness that we, the family of Michael (Mickey) McCormick Sr., announce his passing on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 1, 1939, in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late Jerrold and Dolena (MacKinnon).Mickey was a lifetime member of Branch 8 Legion
Mickey spent his working life sailing on the lake boats; he was a welder by trade. He loved his family deeply; he was always up for some fun, the life of any party. You could always find him playing guitar, hunting, fishing, camping, or hanging out in his office on the lot any day of the week.
He is survived by his loving children, Michele, Michael (Joanne), and Jerrold (Sherry). Six Grandchildren, Francis (Ashley), Bret (Amanda), Kaitlyn (Brandon), Haley (Liam), Natasha (PJ), and DJ (Shayna). 7 Great Grandchildren and one on the way, Gabriel, Chole, Kylie, Adrianna, Paisley, Carlee, Isaac, and baby bean Williams. Sisters Millie (Lloyd Forrest), Marilyn Bennett, and Connie McCormick.
Besides his parents, Mickey was predeceased by his wife, Hilda (Gouthro), and sisters, Florence Ross and Ann McCormick. Brother Raymond, as well as a brother in infancy.
Cremation has taken place. A Funeral mass to celebrate Mickey’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 11 am in Holy Family Parish Hall, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Fabian officiating. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
