Forever in our hearts. It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we, the family of
Michael (Mikey) Scott announce his sudden passing from a single motor vehicle accident on
Saturday, July 19, 2025. Born in North Sydney on October 16, 1985, Michael was the beloved
son of Belinda and Michael Theriault.
As a young boy, Michael always loved spending time with adults. He had a gift for conversation
and was relentless with his questions, driven by curiosity and a desire to learn. Growing up in a
close-knit family, he had many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Michael was the first grandchild of his
grandparents, Poppy and Nanny Scott, with whom he shared a special bond. Fondly nicknamed
Mikey by his loved ones, he was the type of person who would do anything for his friends and
family. He would drop everything to lend a helping hand and would give his last dollar if
someone needed it. He always welcomed you with open arms, offering the most heartfelt,
comforting hugs whenever you needed a little extra comfort and support.
Michael was a strong, stubborn, and hardworking man. He was fiercely loyal and protective of
his loved ones. Above all, he cherished being a dad to his three children, who were his greatest
joy and motivation in life. Michael followed in his father's footsteps and drove a tractor-trailer
for many years. He loved travelling the open road across Canada. In recent years, he worked in
the oilfields of Alberta. One of his great passions was playing the guitar, a skill he developed by
learning from his father and Poppy Scott. He enjoyed the outdoors, long drives, and capturing the
perfect sunset photo. Michael had big plans to restore the Firebird that had been passed down to
him from his father. They shared many memories driving and working on the Firebird together.
Mikey was a devoted father to his three beloved children: Julianna Ashford-Scott, affectionately
known as his "Julie-bug"; Ryder Scott, whom he considered his best buddy; and Eva Grace
Gillis, his "little princess."; He is survived by his parents, Belinda and Michael Theriault, his
sister, Alicia Scott, as well as his nieces, Brooke and Katelynn, and his nephew, Jackson.
Additionally, he is survived by his uncles: Joey Scott (Shirley), Kevin Scott, Wilfred Theriault,
and Leslie Theriault (Rose), along with his aunts: Nadine Rideout, Krista Scott (Anson), Mary
Andrea, and many cherished cousins and friends. Mikey's best friends, including Mallory
Ashford, Chris White, Chad Johnson, and lifelong friend Devin Rideout, will carry his memory
in their hearts with love.
Michael was predeceased by his grandfather, Alfred Scott Sr.; his grandparents, Wilfred and
Dorothy Theriault; and his uncles, Alfie Scott, Albert Theriault, Butch Theriault, Danny
Theriault, and Gary Theriault.
Mikey will be fondly remembered for his compassionate spirit, gentle strength, and unwavering
love for his family, who were his everything. His warmth and kindness touched the lives of those
around him, leaving a lasting impact that will be cherished forever.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00
