Brian was a dedicated member and steadfast supporter of many communities throughout his life. He built a long and successful career as Manager of the United Farmers’ Co-op, earning the respect and friendship of colleagues and customers alike. Brian also gave generously of his time as a devoted volunteer with the Point Aconi Community Development. Following his retirement in 2010, he embraced new adventures out west, where he created memories and lasting friendships while working with his brother Gordie.
He found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, whether on the ball field, at the bowling alley, enjoying a round of golf, playing darts, or sharing laughter over a game of crib or his Friday night card games. He also took great pride in cheering on his beloved Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Bruins.
Through it all, Brian remained a pillar of strength for his family, a devoted husband to Colleen, a proud father to Keith and Krista, a cherished Poppy to Sawyer and Leia, a loving son to his parents, and a supportive older brother.
In recent years, Brian was a committed member of the Parkinson’s Support Group, and he and the family are grateful to all its members for their support, and commitment to fundraising and the walks.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Laith Shimon, and the doctors and staff of 4D at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, the Cape Breton Homemakers Homecare staff, and all the doctors and nurses at the Northside General and Harbour View Hospitals.
