Natalie Anne (Day) Carey
It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend, Natalie Anne Carey, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Bras D’Or on July 12, 1957, Natalie was the daughter of the late Urban and Patricia Day. She devoted her life to caring for others, always prioritizing their needs over her own. A proud and dedicated Guide leader, she led with quiet strength. Her natural ability to nurture and serve others led her to a fulfilling career as a dedicated CCA. She worked her entire career at the Northside Community Guest Home.
The most important part of Natalie’s life was her family; she was always happiest when spending time with them. She created a beautiful family and home with the love of her life. Together, they raised their three children. She was a mother who was beautiful, softened at the edges, and tempered with a spine of steel. Above all, her greatest joy was being a proud Nana to her six grandbabies. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. Nana’s house was always a place where you could count on a big hug and a delicious treat, usually baked by her.
Natalie is survived by her three children, Stacey (Derek) Bond, Brian Matthew (Danielle), and Gerard (Erika). Grandchildren, Maddox, Grayson, Sadie, Remi, Alice, and Jett. Siblings, Urbie (Kim), Michelle (Hugh), Darrell (Donna), Todd (Debbie), and Lorraine. Sisters-in–law, Maureen (Michael), Pauline, Geraldine, Joan (Art). Many aunts and uncles. She was also a special aunt to many nieces and nephews. We are deeply grateful to her friends, Tommy and Anne Leblanc, who stood by Mom’s side, offering unwavering love, strength, and comfort through every season of her life.
While our hearts ache at her passing, we find peace in knowing she is now reunited in heaven with the love of her life of 35 years, Brian Carey. She was also predeceased by her parents, Urban and Patricia Day, along with her mother and father-in-law, Leonard and Catherine Carey, and brother-in-law, Michael Carey.
In keeping with Natalie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday, September 27th at 10:30 am in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, with Father Chinonso officiating. Reception to follow at the Bras d’Or Hall.
“It’s not about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.”
