GATES, Norma (Davis)
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Norma Gates announces her peaceful passing on May 21st in Edmonton, Alberta.
She was born in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia in 1946 and lived most of her life there before venturing West to be closer to her boys, grandsons and daughter-in-law, Kathleen whom she held a special place in her heart.
Norma loved spreading happiness and joy. She spent countless hours knitting afghans, hats, mitts and quilting to give to local charities, hospitals or anyone she thought it would brighten their day.
If she wasn’t yard sailing with Kathleen, she could be found on her swing with her dogs enjoying the beautiful weather.
Norma leaves behind her children: Robbie (Kathleen) of Edmonton, AB, Mark of Ontario; grandson’s: Cody (Ashley) of Leduc, AB; Matthew of Spruce Grove, AB; sisters: Joan (Norman) of Sydney Mines, NS, Brenda of Ontario; sisters-in-law: Evie Moulins, Donalda Ferguson; brother-in-law, Cubby Tobin; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Earl; sisters: Nan McDonald, Barbara Dunn; brother, Curtis Davis and her parents Kathleen and Bert Davis.
Because of Norma’s love for animals, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to an animal charity of your choice. At her request, no viewing or service will be held.
