Olive Gladys Warren

We, the sons of Olive Gladys Warren, are saddened to announce her passing on June 8, 2026, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in Rose Blanche, Newfoundland, on September 24, 1950, Olive was a member of St. John's Anglican Church in North Sydney.

Over the years, Olive was a Brownie and Girl Guide leader and volunteered with the Boy Scouts at their camp whenever needed. She worked as a short-order cook in three restaurants in North Sydney. She was an Auxiliary member with the North Sydney Firefighters Club and was also employed as a baker with Tim Hortons in Sydney.

Olive volunteered for many years with the Terry Fox Walks. She was also a board member with Lakeside Cemetery in North Sydney until her passing.

Mom also spent countless hours helping seniors while they were in the hospital and in their homes, cleaning and cooking for them.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren, going for drives, camping, and enjoying walks together.

Olive is survived by her sons, Donnie (Sarah), New Brunswick, and Chesley (Tina), North Sydney, and her grandchildren, Jonathan, Samantha, Michael, Ryan, and Isaiah.

Also mourning her passing are her in-laws, George (Debbie) Warren and Margie Augustus and their children of Ramea, Newfoundland; Linda Leamon and Janet (Dave) Sheaves and their families of Port aux Basques, Newfoundland; Eric Skinner and his family of Mount Pearl, Newfoundland; Beverly (Russell) Piercey, Wayne Kettle, and their families of Calgary, Alberta; and the Anderson family, whom she adored.

She will also be greatly missed by her dear friends, Nancy Guy and Judy Walsh, as well as her beloved fur babies, Buddy and Max, whom she loved so much.

Olive was predeceased by her husband, Donald Warren Sr.; daughter, Donna Warren; grandson, Dylan Swann; parents-in-law, Myrtle and Edgar Warren; sisters-in-law, Loretta Fudge, Merina Skinner, Diane Kettle, Jane Warren, and Donna Warren; and brothers-in-law, Emmanuel Warren, Dorman Warren, Johnny Leamon, Claude Warren, and Clarence Fudge.

The family of Olive Warren would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Mike MacDonald of the Emergency Department and Dr. Ryan Kelly for the care and assistance they provided to our mother in her time of need. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff of the Palliative Care Unit for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Mom during her final days.

As per Olive's wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place, a graveside service will be held on Friday June 12, 2026 at 3:30 pm in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
