Pat MacDonald Obituary

With heavy hearts we regret to announce the sudden passing of Charles Patrick (Pat) MacDonald, 52 of Sydney Mines, on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born on June 10, 1968 in Glace Bay, he was the son of Charles and Peggy MacDonald.  He leaves behind to mourn his loving wife Denise and three beautiful children Liam 24, Connell 17, and Ainslee 15. Pat now reunites with his infant son Garrick.

Pat is also survived by his brother Francis (Annemarie) MacDonald, Gagetown; sister Kim Butts, Glace Bay; brother Chris (Melanie) MacDonald, Sydney; and sister Margo (Scott) MacDonald, Halifax.

Pat is survived by his in-laws Cecil and Selina MacDonald of Sydney Mines and their children; Derrick (Holly) MacDonald, Rhode Island; Maria Elena (James) McCafferty, Dartmouth; Bonnie Jean (Michael) Cutcliffe, Cole Harbour; Sheamus (Natasha) MacDonald, Sydney Mines; Suzanne (Mike) MacDonald, Bridgewater; and Jonathan (Christa) MacDonald, Southside Boularderie and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by both his paternal and maternal grandparents, Charles J and Katherine Anne MacDonald; William Renee and Margaret Catherine MacDonald, all of Glace Bay.

Pat was trained as an auto body mechanic from the Cape Breton Vocational School and employed by Miller's Rentals for 15 plus years. He was very mechanically inclined and honed his skills from a very young age. No dinky was safe nor did any toy ever go together the same way twice.  He will be remembered as a jokester and kind soul who could always be counted upon for a good story.  He was never too busy to sit with anyone and joke over a cup of warm tea. Pat continued his giving ways as he has become an organ donor.

Cremation has taken place and funeral services will take place at a later date under the direction of JM Jobes Funeral Home Limited. Special thanks to the EMS technicians and staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital’s Emergency Department for their extensive efforts and professionalism while assisting with our loss.
