                It is with a heavy heart that we, the family of Patrica Ellen (Harrison) Hornsby, announce her passing on March 13, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

                Born in Amherst, NS, she was the daughter of the Late Donald and Dolores.  In her later years, Patricia moved to Sydney Mines, where she spent 25 years working for the Northside Homemakers Service Society.

                Always one to help her community, Patrica volunteered her time as an active member of Trinity Anglian Church, Sydney Mines, and assisted as a member of the ACW group. The Saint John’s Ambulance for 50 years, and most recently, the Sydney Mines Senior’s & Pensioner’s Club.  

                Patrica remained active until her final day, enjoying the local Top’s exercise classes and the senior's Thursday night bowling league, where she made many friends who will miss her dearly.  

                Left to mourn are her sons, James and Jeff, “her other son,” Terry. Sisters Darlene, Janet, Verna, Carol, and brother Jackie. 10 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren, and special friend Jim Bell. Besides her parents, Patricia was predeceased by her husband Ron, brother Donald, and son Donald.

                A visitation and celebration of life will be held at JM Jobes Funeral Home on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 1 to 3 p.m. Rev. Jacki Warren will officiate a service at 3 p.m.  Immediately following, the family will welcome all to share stories and memories of Patricia’s life and join them in a luncheon hosted by the Pensioner’s Club Fraser Ave, Sydney Mines.  

                A special thank you to the staff at Northside Homecare and Harbourview Seniors Day Program for all your care and attention over the years; we are forever grateful.
