Paulette Rose Obituary

Paulette Rose

Sydney Mines, NS.

June 15, 1958 - November 8, 2021

"Paulette, a member of St. Stephen’s Parish, Florence, was a daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who treasured her family and spent many years supporting the community."

With great sadness, we announce Mary Paulette (Donovan) Rose's passing on Monday, November 8, 2021, at 63.

Born to the late Thomas Donovan and Renelda "Babs" (Butts) Donovan, Paulette was one of six children, three of whom passed before her, Jackie (Lori), Valerie (Norman), and Wanda (Sammy). Her remaining siblings Jennie Ann (Donnie) and Walter (Kelly) will miss her immensely.

Paulette was a proud member of the Cape Breton Municipality, working at both the North Sydney and Sydney Mines Regional Police Departments as a jailor and a custodian in later years. After over 30 years of service, she retired and enjoyed spending the rest of her time with her late husband, sitting on the patio, drinking tea, and enjoying her novels.

Paulette is now with her husband, whom she was happily married to for over 50 incredible years, James (Jake) Rose. Together they share five children: Jake (Tayna), Alberta, Gordie (Diane), Florence, Jenny (Ed), Ontario, Sherry (Kevin), Sydney Mines/Alberta, and Polly (Ontario). She was also a grandmother to nine grandchildren: "Little" Jakie, Matthew, Scotty, Kirsten, Thomas, Marcus, Samantha, Mason, and Megan, and a great grandmother to "Baby" Jakie, Jenson, Jayla, and Dawson. Paulette was known as "Nanny Rose" and was incredibly proud of her grandchildren and frequently shared their accomplishments with others.

Paulette will be remembered for her contagious laughter, kind heart, loving hugs, and many other exceptional qualities.

Our family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and the Hospice/Palliative Care team, as well as Dr. Ignacio, for going above and beyond to provide care for Paulette and her family during this difficult time. Likewise, we would like to extend a special thank you to Norman, Eileen, and Donalda for being a special part of Paulette's life over the last year.

There will be no visitation or funeral service. A private committal service will be held at a later date. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.

Nanny,

I have had the best time of my life with you,

To have a lovely nanny like you,

You are too sweet is all I can say,

In my life, you had an important role to play,

Thanks, nanny, I love you a lot,
