Peggy Purdy Obituary

Margaret Rose (Peggie) Purdy

March 2, 1943 - June 17, 2022

It is with profound sadness that we, the family of Peggie Purdy, announce her peaceful passing at Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Neil’s Harbour on Friday June 17, 2022, after a brief but very courageous battle with cancer.

She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her daughter Wendy, son in law Kirk, granddaughters Leah (Kyle) & Kimber, & great grandchildren Logan (her buddy) and Lily (her sweetie) who all brought her great pride & joy.

She will also be dearly missed by her sisters Doris (Walt) & Joyce (Scott) and brothers Darryl (Sheryl), Hughie (Yvette), and Timmy, along with her nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, and her Purdy family in Wallace, Cumberland County, who she all thought so fondly of.

Peggie was predeceased by her parents Emery and Mary (MacIntosh) Fitzgerald, her step-mother Mary (Barron) Fitzgerald, loving husband James Purdy, along with sisters Joan, Eliza, and Marie, brothers Angus and Alex and infant brother Angus.

Peggie was born in White Point, Victoria County to Emery and Mary on March 2, 1943. She had many adventures & accomplishments in her 79 years, but her greatest accomplishments were her great grandchildren, Logan & Lily. She loved spoiling her “buddy” with treats, weekly suppers (especially his favourite - fish & potatoes), playing board & card games with him, & treating him like a king. Although her time was short with her “sweetie”, she showered her with so much love & endless rocking chair cuddles.

When Peggie wasn’t curled up with a good book / puzzle book & a hot cup of tea, you could find her dining out at restaurants with her granddaughters Leah & Kimber, having her evening chat with her nephew Gussie, or making her “famous mashed potatoes” which we will all miss so much.

At Peggie’s request, no service will be held. Cremation has taken place & her ashes will be laid to rest with her loving husband, Jim, in Wallace, at a later date.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the doctors & nurses at Buchanan Memorial Hospital for the care & compassion shown not only to Peggie, but to her family as well. We would also like to thank Dr. Ritter for his help & guidance during this difficult time.
